In Danish, "ferm" means "clever" and is used particularly to describe fine handiwork. When ferm LIVING's founder, Trine Anderson, discovered this old Danish word while leafing through her grandmother's needlepoint book, she felt a strong affinity with it.
For Trine, creating wallpaper is like designing fine fashion. With each design, she seeks to dress walls and finish spaces with character and style. Trine has been designing since she was a little girl growing up in the small Danish village of Jylland, where she made dresses for her dolls with spare fabric from her parents' clothing factory. She founded ferm LIVING in 2005, and today she designs from her studio in Århus, Denmark. Her wall art blends imaginative forms and offbeat subjects with a modern yet classic take. Trine draws inspiration from traveling, people watching, nature, fashion, and vintage books and magazines.
