Brooklyn has a strong local scene of businesses that are providing each other with services, trade, and materials. The loss of large industry in the area has created pockets of space for the proliferation of smaller scale companies sharing similar goals. These "specialized communities" allow Brave Space Design to remain a local business in Brooklyn while using New York City as a portal to the larger global community. Their business remains local while the response to their work is international. There is also a growing movement towards sustainability that is raising awareness across the board. The climate is right for designers and fabricators to produce their goods in ways that have a positive effect on our world.

2. WHAT'S THE ODDEST THING IN YOUR REFRIGERATOR? We started using parts of vegetables that we don’t eat mixed with rice, and adding it to our dog's food. She's now become our canine compost. It's probably a little odd only because we make that mucky mix in the shape of muffins.
3. WHAT'S A PRODUCT YOU WISH YOU'D THOUGHT UP? Boggle
4. USE THE WORD "BAFFLEGAB" IN A SENTENCE. When I was young I would say something like “bafflegab”, but it's been awhile.
5. WHAT'S SOMETHING YOU AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE? Mushrooms and reality shows (except for American Chopper).
6. HAVE YOU EVER FELT COMPELLED TO BUY A BILLY MAYS PRODUCT? (YOU KNOW, OXICLEAN, HERCULES HOOKS...) My mom bought me a vacuum for wood floors. It doesn't work.
7. I'M SO SICK OF HEARING ABOUT... Taxes and war. (They both make me baffle-gag)
8. WHAT'S THE FUNNIEST NICKNAME YOU'VE GIVEN OR BEEN GIVEN? Sixx. As in Nikki Sixx…Montley Crue
9. IF YOU DIDN'T DO WHAT YOU DO, WHAT WOULD YOU DO? I'm so far into it it's hard to think of other alternatives. I have to think about that one for awhile.
10. WE'RE FISHIN' FOR SOME NEW MUSIC, SO WHAT BAND(S) DO YOU LOVE RIGHT NOW? You get into a black hole with that question. We run the gamut of music in the shop. From the Kinks to Beirut to Dizzee Rascal to some Elvis Costello to RunDMC.
